The Wine Marketing & Tourism Conference will return to Oregon in 2021, with a date change to August 3 – 5. The conference will take place immediately prior to the Wine Media Conference, allowing industry members to easily participate in both conferences.
Return to Oregon
We at Zephyr Conferences announced the beloved Wine Media Conference, scheduled to be held in Oregon this August, will be postponed to 2021. This was a blow to many members of our community who were looking forward to a trip to Oregon, to the Oregon wine industry who had made big plans to host 225 media, and to us as conference organizers. However, it was the right decision to make.
As small recompense to the Oregon wine industry, we decided to bring the Wine Marketing & Tourism Conference (WMTC) back to the state in 2021. The event will be timed to take place immediately prior to the Wine Media Conference, which will allow industry members to attend that event, network with the media, and consider pouring wines by signing on as a sponsor.
Change in Content
The WMTC wrapped up this past March in Oregon with the highest overall ratings of any event in its nine-year history. This was due, in part, to a conscious decision to focus on valuable, actionable information wineries could use to improve their marketing and tourism offerings and to provide opportunities for small-group discussions of key topics. In 2021, we will go further down this road.
As organizers of five industry conferences per year with 12 years of experience, we know a major problem in providing outstanding content is the variability of speakers. It is just not easy to select and control quality for 20 or more speakers. Therefore, in 2021 we are revamping our content entirely by inviting only six qualified speakers, primarily those experts who have rated the highest at past conferences. Attendees will get more time with the best presenters and most knowledgeable experts. The announcement of speakers will be made shortly.
